An 11th hour unrelenting search by Maestro Guido Lamell for Adolphus Hailstork's out of print EPITAPH for a MAN WHO DREAMED was
miraculously successful and lead to a defining performance by the Santa
Monica Symphony conducted by Maestro Lamell during their annual Martin
Luther King Day Concert in Santa Monica, Ca. on Saturday, January 14,
2017. Even Adolphus Hailstork did not have a copy of the score and
parts.
Following the Hailstork piece came the first half audience favorite, violinist Annelle Gregory's
dexterous performance of Samuel Barber's Concerto for Violin, Op. 14.
After repeated applause Maestro Guido invited Annelle to play a solo
piece and give the appreciative audience more time with the beautiful

Dear Mr. Zick and Mr. Malveaux,
Thank
you so much for this post and for the pictures too! It was an honor to
play with the Santa Monica Symphony and especially with Maestro Lamell,
a wonderful conductor and person.
Hailstork’s
piece was beautiful and captivating – I only wish I could’ve heard it
from an audience perspective (instead of backstage). My family and I
all hope that this performance will help to revive the work and have it
