World House Music has raised funds and shipped Tanzania's first concert grand piano to Tumaini University, Makumira; Donations Needed for Scholarships

WE BIRTHED A DREAM INTO EXISTENCE!  It only took 9 months!

Brothers and Sisters,

On February 28 of this year, Shaw University Choir, the Choirs of Kirk of Kildaire in North Carolina, and a group of local artists performed the initial fund raising concert to send the first concert grand piano ever to reach the country of Tanzania.  Thanks to the generous support of hundreds of donors, about nine months later, on Thursday, November 17, the crated piano left Wells Piano store in St. Paul Minneapolis by truck to Chicago. It went by ship to Montreal, and December 2, left Montreal on a long trip to Dar Es Salaam with anticipated arrival date of January 3, 2017!  >From there it is shipped by ground to Tumaini University, Makumira.  We will keep you posted on the details.

WHM is grateful Andy and Paula Holman who sponsored 2.5 keys in honor of the people of Tanzania, José and Ronnie Melendez who sponsored a key in honor of John Grant, a mentor to José in his youth.   Half a key was sponsored by anonymous small donations and the very last key was sponsored by Angel and Pat Cardona, and Emily Cardona, with a portion sponsored in loving memory by the family of Margaret Jane Kasper (Nov. 16, 1945 - Sept. 5, 2014)

The first part of the Piano and Music for Tanzania is complete!  Now all is left to raise is the $10,000 for scholarships for students in Tanzania.  Those of you who have wanted to support the piano but have not yet done so, still have the opportunity to contribute to the scholarship fund.
