2016 Young Artists in Harmony program at A Reason To Survive (ARTS)
It's hard to believe it's already December and that we're almost halfway through our 10th Anniversary Season. For this season, "A Place To Call Home," we're focused on creative place-making and defining home in the 21st century. With numerous collaborations and 7 world premieres, as well as an expanded five-concert series at The San Diego Museum of Art that opens and closes with free community events, the 10th Anniversary celebrates the reach of Art of Élan's programming and engagement efforts as well as its ongoing desire to connect people from all over the globe through music.
So far this season we have witnessed a successful collaboration with Bravo International Music Academy (BIMA), a sold-out Thanksgiving concert at The San Diego Museum of Art and a multi-media event at The Glashaus featuring the world premiere of "Beat Suite No. 2" by violist AJ Nilles.
But the initiative we are most proud of has been taking place in National City each Saturday in partnership with A Reason To Survive (ARTS), a
nationally recognized organization that believes in the power of the
arts and creativity to literally transform lives - especially those of
kids facing adversity. Consisting of weekly workshops, where ARTS music students had the opportunity to be mentored by Art of Élan musicians, our Young Artists in Harmony (YAH)
program recently culminated with a free open house concert in National
City that attracted over 150 people. The students will have an
additional opportunity to showcase their work on January 18th from 6-8pm at the San Diego Art Institute in
Balboa Park, where Art of Élan musicians will perform their
compositions as part of the Southern California/Baja Biennial exhibit.

This residency program exists because of the generous support of people like you. We recently received a $10,000 challenge grant that
we need your help with now, during this season of giving. Any amount
donated to Art of Élan between now and December 31st will be matched dollar for dollar,
up to $10,000. Please consider lending your voice and your resources to
this amazing partnership-we are hoping to turn this residency into a
year-round program starting next fall!
