Igbo Mass Suicide that took place off the coast of Georgia in 1803.
Dr. Quintard Taylor writes:
Hi Folks:
On February 25, BlackPast.org will hold its 10th
anniversary celebration-fundraiser here in Seattle. I want to take a
moment to remind us of why both the celebration and the fundraiser are
important. I have attached a sheet called “BlackPast.org and the World”
which shows the enormous reach of the website. So far in 2016, it has
reached at least 230 nations. The sheet shows the top ten nations that
have sent people to the website and the bottom ten nations. So far
about 15% of our visitors come from outside the United States.
I also want to bring your attention to the current BP home page, (www.blackpast.org).
There is a poignant drawing on that page depicting the little known
Igbo Mass Suicide that took place off the coast of Georgia in 1803.
Click anywhere on the drawing and you will learn about that tragic
event.
This is why we do what we do at BlackPast.org.
