Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro. with Grammy winner Sergio Mendes celebrating
the 50th anniversary of his Brasil ’66 – an electrifying evening of
samba, capoeira, Bloco-Afro drummers and fireworks under Maestro Thomas
Wilkins conducting the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. Special guests included Herb Alpert, Lani Hall, Dianne Reeves, Romero Lubambo, soprano Angel Blue, Viver Brasil, and Raiz Brazil Dance Company.
In
2008, Thomas Wilkins began an appointment as Principal Guest Conductor
of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. In June 2014, he became Principal
Conductor and he continues to lead the ensemble each summer in a diverse
range of concerts.Thomas Wilkins is also music director of the Omaha Symphony; a position he has held since 2005..
