Reynard Burns writes:Hello Mr. Zick,I hope you are well.I have several events coming up in the near future.Sat. July 16 - My orchestral work "Light the Torch" will be premiered at a concert at Heckscher State Park, East Islip New York. The orchestra, conducted by David Stewart Wiley, will premier the composition as part of the program's Honor Our Local Heroes concert. "Light The Torch" was written as a tribute to the Tuskegee Airmen, inspired by my association with the Claude B. Govan Tri-State Chapter Tuskegee Airmen Inc.The performance of this work will be a dedication to Dr. Roscoe Brown, Captain and squadron commander who passed away on July 2, 2016 at the age of 94. He is credited with shooting down one of the German Fighter jets while flying a mission to Berlin protecting B-17 bombers.Sat. July 24 - I will be presenting a clinic/workshop entitled Diversity in Music. The session will be presented at the Texas orchestra Director's Association's conference in San Antonio, Texas. My session's goal is to enlighten and encourage directors to include more music of composers of African descent in their programming and to provide students and audiences with information about these composers and their influence on the world of music.Sat. August 27 - The Roanoke Symphony will be performing my orchestral work "Biciclette". Biciclette was commissioned by the Wisconsin Youth Orchestra for its 50th Anniversary Gala Concert in February 2016. i was chosen as one of five composers from across the country, to compose a work specifically for this wonderful event. the Gala was covered and televised by Wisconsin Public Television. Please consider adding to your blog. Thank you,
