On June 16th Art of Élan returns to its North County home at Lux Art Institute to present one of its signature one-hour concerts featuring flutist Demarre McGill & friends as a special dual celebration of innovation in the arts in Southern California. The season finale concert includes a sneak preview of Art of Élan's 2016-2017 10th Anniversary Season, which coincides with the 10th Anniversary of Lux Art Institute, and will be paired with an opportunity to view the works of resident artist Angela Kallus, including a meet-and-greet with the artist and a special pre-concert reception with the musicians. The colorful program, featuring works by Roussel, Ginastera, Jolivet, Ibert and more explores the dichotomy between order and chaos in the 21st century, illuminating the impact of art in our lives.

As a special bonus, concertgoers are invited to come early to view the Roman de Salvo exhibit "Elements & Filaments" (on display in the Lux Education Pavilion) composed of works from 1996-2015 that involve light in the form of incandescent bulbs, electricity, and fire.

Roman de Salvo considers himself a sculptor, but more specifically a conceptual artist who works well with his hands. As a sculptor, conceptual and installation artist, he works with the ordinary and familiar in an infusion of surprise, intrigue, and visual poetry. He makes generic and vernacular objects into peculiar and often humorous sculptures. Employing materials normally associated with prosaic domestic construction and decoration, de Salvo fashions art and anti-art objects that continually question the meaning of things.

As always, we thank you for your ongoing interest and support and we look forward to seeing you at a concert soon!
