Cutting Edge Concerts:
The New York premiere of eight aspects of appreciation II by the
African-American composer Jeffrey Mumford will feature the violinist
Emilie-Anne Gendron and the cellist Julia Bruskin. In addition, the
shakuhachi player and composer James Nyoraku Schlefer
will premiere his own new work, 2Blue, and
also perform in Victoria Bond’s Rashomon,
based on the same ancient tale as the Kurosawa film. Mr. Mumford will be
in attendance, and will speak briefly about his work before the
performance.
