The friendship between Afro-British composer and conductor, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and African-American poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar resulted in musical works that reflect the black experience around the world. This recital will present Coleridge-Taylor's settings of Seven African Romances and highlights from his opera Dream Lovers. Assisted by University of Dayton faculty David Sievers (tenor), Errik Hood (baritone), Central State University faculty Kathleen Allen (soprano), and the New River Ensemble (Martha Hyde, Lisa Liske-Doorandish, and Brendan Cooney.)
