Black Pearl has begun an exciting new partnership with the Anna Blakiston Day School in Mt. Airy.  This delightful elementary and middle school has invited Black Pearl to offer its fun and innovative after-school educational Orchestrating Leadership program to its 7th graders. From October through December, Black Pearl is working with 20 students who are learning about the instruments of the orchestra, composers, and repertoire and how to lead an orchestra through confidence, clear communication, and a growing sense of their own ability to lead.

Highlights of the Season
In the summer of 2015, Black Pearl embarked upon its first ever large scale tour!  As part of an international conference, the Women’s Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church invited the 48-piece orchestra to travel from Philadelphia and points east to Indianapolis, IN for  three days of music making and consciousness-raising.  The conference theme centered around water as a precious resource and as part of the celebration, the Society and Black Pearl commissioned composer Jacob Yoffee to create a moving musical experience of the power of living waters on the earth.  We are looking forward to bringing Black Pearl to other states in the country as we plan for our next multi-city tour in 2017.
