The production will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at Dallas City
Performance Hall, 2520 Flora St. in the downtown Dallas Arts District.
The work was first presented April 2 at Performance Hall.
Story
had expressed hope that the debut would lead to future stagings here and
in other cities. The premiere should be “just the beginning … [that]
will live far beyond this first performance,” she said.
Her hope
is being realized with two New Orleans performances in collaboration
with Loyola University, OperaCréole and some Southern Methodist
University students and faculty members.
Those performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and at 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at Roussel Hall on the Loyola campus.
The
opera also should convey that hundreds of resilient Katrina families
still need help, Story wrote. The Dallas cast and crew include local
singers Donnie Ray Albert, Leon Turner and Bronwen Forbay.
