Maestro Joseph Taylor will discuss the history of the short lived Watts Symphony orchestra that was formed as a response to the 1965 Riots/Rebellion. The Watts Symphony orchestra caught the attention of William Grant Still, Maestro Zubin Mehta, and renowned others who attended rehearsals and performances. The discussion will be followed by a performance of the current Watts-Willowbrook Youth Chamber Orchestra conducted by Maestro Joe Taylor at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Long Beach Main Library- Main Library Auditorium.
