On February 18th Art of Élan makes its highly anticipated return to North County with one of its signature concerts at Lux Art Institute in Encinitas. The one-hour concert will be paired with an opportunity to view the works on display of resident artist Julian Kreimer, including a meet-and-greet with the artist and a special pre-concert reception with the musicians.

The
colorful program will include highlights from recent Art of Élan
seasons and features a variety of "memory pieces," written in honor of
someone or something in each composer's memory. The haunting "Mariel"
for cello and marimba by Argentinean composer Osvaldo Golijov opens the program, which also includes David Lang's string quartet, "wed," Judd Greenstein's
"At the end of a really great day," the hypnotic second string quartet
by Philip Glass entitled "Company," as well as the concert premiere of David Bruce's "Duettino."
