Dominique-René de Lerma: Chi-chi Nwanoku, famed principal double bassist and co-founder of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment visiting U.S. in February

Chi-chi Nwanoku

Dominique-René de Lerma:

Chi-chi Nwanoku, famed  principal double bassist and co-founder of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music, will be visiting me at the start of next month on her research for the BBC on Black musicians in 18th century England.  Arrangements have been made for her to visit Lawrence University's Conservatory of Music while she is in Appleton.   This will be part of the Ben Holt Memorial Concert Series, now in its 23rd year since its inception in Chicago.  Her visit to the United States will include serving on the jury for the Sphinx Competition in Detroit and an engagement at Rice University, as well as at other venues.  A large network of fascinating data on her may be initiated at www.oae.co.uk.
