1976 R&B Grammy vocalist Thelma Houston (Don't Leave
Me This Way) & John Malveaux share a picture following the renaming
of Burnett Elementary School to Bobbie Smith Elementary School on
December 8, 2014 in Long Beach, Ca. Bobbie Smith is retired African
American librarian and former Chairperson of Long Beach Unified School
District. Thelma & John met at Burnett in 1955 and began an endless
friendship. Thelma sang "America" during the ceremony. See attachment
