Hello everyone,
I hope that many of you
were able to see the Star Spangled Bicentennial Concert last evening on
television. This was an incredible experience for the choir to be
involved in such a national event such as this. I taped the television
presentation from last evening, and as as I thought, most of the time
was devoted to the Pier 6 concert with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
with artists such as Smokey Robinson, Kenny Rogers, and Denyce Graves.
The cut to the Fort McHenry was only for the Vice-President's speech
and the singing of the evening's climax with the singing of the National
Anthem by Jordin Sparks, with the choir and band accompanying her.
Prior to what was seen, we performed two musical sets for the five
thousand plus visitors at Fort McHenry. The first set was a three song
set featuring only the choir with some of our standard repertoire. The
second set featured two iconic songs of choral Americana accompanied by
the United States Marine Band. See YouTube links to the performances
that were not aired on television below. After the anthem, we witnessed
quite possibly the most spectacular fireworks show ever presented in
this town. There were four fireworks presentations perfectly synced all
over the city of Baltimore and we were in the epicenter! We were
perfectly positioned top to take in all four fireworks displays at once,
which one could not grasp on television. Please see some photos
