Violinist Tai Murray Performs at Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival in Detroit Area June 17, 19, 20 & 21, 2014

These days Tai Murray typically maintains a heavy schedule of performances in Europe. However, her performance with the Westchester Philharmonic in White Plains, New York on June 15, 2014 will be followed quickly by four appearances at the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival in the Detroit area June 17, 19, 20 & 21, 2014. Among the featured performers are Peter Schickele (a.k.a. P.D.Q. Bach) as the 2014 Stone Composer-in-Residence, the Donald Sinta Quartet, the Calidore String Quartet, the Ariel Quartet, the Delphi TrioPUBLIQuartet of the Sphinx Organization, and a galaxy of classical stars that includes pianists Frederic Chiu, Angela Cheng, Anton Nel, Ivan Moshchuk, violinists Tai Murray, Eric Pritchard, Yoonshin Song, and Kimberly Kaloyanides Kennedy, and cellists Andrés Díaz, Peter Wiley, and Paul Katz. Pianist and GLCMF Music Director James Tocco and cellist Paul Watkins, future GLCMF music director, will perform a special program together.

The music of Johann Sebastian Bach, the crowning composer of the Baroque era, will come to life at the 2014 Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival. Titled In the Shadow of Bach, the 21st annual festival will also explore Bach’s exceptional influence on subsequent composers. The Festival will open on Saturday, June 14 at Seligman Performing Arts Center. More than 20 concerts will take place in the two-week period. The festival will run through Sunday, June 29th.
