Judith Anne Still, the daughter of William Grant Still, operates WilliamGrantStillMusic.com.  She writes:

Actually, my father was supposed to orchestrate the film, but the producer said his music was "too good" to represent the Negro "as he really was," so they replaced William Grant Still's pieces with others.
