Kronos Quartet

Cross Borders into Fascinating, New Musical Worlds!

On Friday, November 8 at 8 pm, join us at the RISD [Rhode Island School of Design] Auditorium for a world premiere event that crosses borders of music, culture and generation. This much anticipated concert features our own Community MusicWorks Players and Phase II and III students, performing alongside one of the world's most celebrated ensembles, Kronos Quartet.

For 40 years, San Francisco's Kronos Quartet - David Harrington (violin), John Sherba (violin), Hank Dutt (viola), and Sunny Jungin Yang (cello) - has combined a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to continually re-imagining the string quartet experience. Kronos has become one of the most influential ensembles, performing thousands of concerts worldwide, releasing more than 50 recordings, collaborating with many of the world's most accomplished composers and performers, and commissioning more than 800 works and arrangements for string quartet. A Grammy winner, Kronos is the only recipient of both the Polar Music Prize and the Avery Fisher Prize.

Bring a friend, and experience this unique and bold collaboration as Kronos Quartet and Community MusicWorks Players premiere the FirstWorks and CMW's co-commissioned work A Voice Exclaiming, written by composer Kareem Roustom. Kronos will also perform works by Laurie Anderson, Aleksandra Vrebalov, John Oswald, and more.
