Angel Blue’s back-story is a fascinating one. Youngest of four daughters to the late, great gospel singer Sylvester Blue, Angel wanted to be an opera singer from as young as nine years old. Needing to fund her own way through music studies at UCLA, Angel’s mother encouraged her to enter beauty pageants – which she did with great success, winning titles including Miss Hollywood and Miss Southern California! In the fledgling stages of her career she was then hand-picked by the legendary Plácido Domingo for his Young Artists programme at Los Angeles Opera, leading to regular opportunities to perform alongside the great tenor himself.
