Violist Nokuthula Ngwenyama Performs at Livestreamed Foulger Virtuosi Concerts at Enlow Hall in Hillside, New Jersey, Fridays July 12 & 19, 2013 at 7 PM Eastern

The renowned violist Nokuthula Ngwenyama, www.ngwenyama.com, was born June 16, 1976.  She is President of the American Viola Society and has long been featured at AfriClassical.com.  A new recording with pianist Eckart Sellheim is in the works.  

Nokuthula Ngwenyama is teaching this Summer at the Foulger International Music Festival, FoulgerMusic.org, whose Founder and Artistic Director is Allison Eldredge. She will perform in two Foulger Virtuosi Concerts, Friday, July 12 and Friday, July 19.  Both concerts are at 7 PM Eastern Time and both will be Livestreamed at links provided below:

Friday, July 12, 7pm: “The Universal Language of Music”
Old favorites and less-familiar masterworks are heard on this program of music from many different nations. The program includes Schubert's perennial favorite, the “Trout” Quintet, as well as music from Poland (Penderecki's String Trio), Argentina (Piazzolla Tangos for 4 Cellos), and Norway (Handel/Halvorsen Passacaglia for Violin and Viola).

Friday, July 19, 7pm: “Small Symphonies”
While chamber music is at times intimate and personal, this program shows the power that even a small number of musicians can create. On the program: Bach's Brandenburg Concerto #3; Shostakovich's Two Pieces for Octet; the only Piano Quartet by the great symphonist Gustav Mahler; and Prokofiev's arrangement for solo piano of music from the ballet “Romeo and Juliet.”
