Claude Ribbe writes a French account of the life of an African American jazz musician in 'Eugène Bullard' (1895-1961)

Eugène Bullard (1895-1961)

One of the major biographies on the AfriClassical.com biographical page on Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges is based is Le chevalier de Saint-George (2004), written in French by Claude Ribbe. The author sends his best wishes for 2013 and alerts us to an essay posted yesterday at his website, http://www.claude-ribbe.com/, Il y a cent cinquante ans, Lincoln émancipait les esclaves, which can be translated as: 150 Years Ago, Lincoln Freed the Slaves.

Claude Ribbe calls his book Eugène Bullard the first French account of the African American "aviator, jazzman, boxer, music hall performer and secret agent" Eugène Bullard (1895-1961).
