John Malveaux: KUSC Request at Noon for Still's SUMMERLAND

[Get On Board American Music for Woodwinds by William Grant Still; Sierra Winds; Cambria 1083]

John Malveaux of www.MusicUNTOLD.com writes:

Gail Eichenthal, Executive Producer at KUSC Classical Radio, paid tribute to an engineer, John Verboon, who had worked at KUSC for nearly 30 years but died the past weekend with cancer in his early 60's with request for William Grant Still's SUMMERLAND.

Alan Chapman started his REQUEST AT NOON program on Monday October 15, 2012 with SUMMERLAND by Sierra Winds on Cambria. See  http://www.kusc.org/playlist/index.aspx.  SUMMERLAND speaks to William Grant Still's vision of life after death. Violinist Annelle Gregory and composer-pianist Richard Thompson covered the piece during the 150th Anniversary Emancipation Proclamation Concert.

Thanks
John Malveaux
