Michael Wright: 'Òbáńgíjì' by Nigerian Composer Fela Sowande is on 'Liverpool Spectacular!' PRCD1042

[Fela Sowande]

Michael Wright writes:

You may be aware of this CD but others may not:  PRCD1042 - Liverpool Spectacular ! The Organ of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral -  Richard Lea includes Obangiji by Fela Sowande. Those who want the really big sound version of this will not be disappointed. The Henry Willis organ is one of the largest in the UK and suits this work.

Kind regards

Mike

[Dr. Dominique-René de Lerma, http://www.CasaMusicaledeLerma.com, writes in an extensive essay at http://www.africanchorus.org/Artists/Sowande.htm that Òbáńgíjì is a work of Fela Sowande for piano, and was published in London by Chappell (1955).  The CD is available online.  Fela Sowande (1905-1987) is a Nigerian composer who is featured at AfriClassical.com]
