radio show this Weds (July 4th) on WHPK-FM in Chicago (88.5 FM
locally and livestream on www.whpk.org) my entire show will be
devoted to American symphonic music.
Among
the selections on my show which will include symphonies by Charles
Ives (No. 4), Roy Harris (No. 3) and Paul Creston (No. 2) will be
William Grant Still's Symphony No. 2 "Song of a New Race" -
the Naxos recording with the Fort Smith Symphony Orchestra, John
Jeter conducting.
Also
on the show will be several pieces by Scott Joplin from the complete
set of Joplin's piano music performed by Dick Hyman.

WRCJ-FM (Detroit, MI) played Still's Afro-American Symphony this morning. They routinely play his music without resorting to associating it with February.
