OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. — The Sixth International Sierra Nevada Classical
Guitar Festival and Competition sets off a weekend full of guitar
events in Olympic Valley, concurrent with the Art, Wine & Classical
Guitar Music Festival at the Village at Squaw Valley, July 14-15.
Listen
to exclusive performances by a wide array of international guitarists,
including Brazil-born Celso Machado, Rene Izquierdo, Connie Sheu and
Marc Teicholz. They'll also be able to take part to a variety of events
including adult and youth guitar competitions, lectures, luthier
exhibits and workshops. All events will take place in acoustically
excellent Squaw Valley Chapel.
“The idea is to set the stage for a
memorable weekend of guitar music in one of the world's most
spectacular locations near Lake Tahoe,” said Larry Aynesmith, festival
director and organizer. “Whether you are a guitar professional,
aficionado, or simply a music lover, this Festival always fosters
excitement about this classical yet timeless instrument.”
During
the weekend, attendees will have the chance to catch teaser-performances
by selected guitar artists on the stages at Squaw Valley Village during
the Art and Wine and Classical Guitar Music Festival, July 14-15.
