Colorado Public Radio's “Classical Music With Karla Walker” aired Lyric for Strings by George Walker Thursday evening, May 3, 2012. The music was performed by the Chicago Sinfonietta, and conducted by Paul Freeman. It appears on Cedille Records CDR 061 (2001).

George Walker (b. 1922) is a prolific composer and pianist whose website is http://georgetwalker.com/, and who is featured at AfriClassical.com. His latest recording, reviewed on AfriClassical February 26, 2012, is George Walker: Great American Orchestral Works, Vol. 3; Albany Records TROY1334 (2012).


Dr. Gregory T. S. Walker is indeed a Professor of Music at the University of Colorado at Denver. His multifaceted career includes composing, serving as Concert Master for the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra, and performing and recording on both acoustic and electric violin.
