'VocalEssence 2012 Gala: BRIT BASH!' In Minneapolis May 5 Supports 'WITNESS,' Celebrating Contributions of African Americans

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (April 5, 2012) — No one throws a party like the Queen, and VocalEssence invited her to join them for their Spring Gala, BRIT BASH. While sipping your Pimm’s Cup, you will stroll through our British Isles Silent Auction, rub shoulders with Sir Philip Brunelle, and maybe even have your picture taken with the Queen herself. BRIT BASH takes place at The Historic Milwaukee Depot in Minneapolis; tickets are $200 per person. For tickets and information, call 612-547-1453 or visit www.vocalessence.org/gala.

Live heralds will sound as you enter the Queen’s country dining room led by traditional British Morris dancers, the royal guard, and her Majesty. Savor the delicious British fare of Guinness-Braised Short Ribs or Vegetable Napoleon while listening to the sweet sounds of VocalEssence roving madrigal singers.

Sir Philip Brunelle in all his majesty will lead his singers through a tour of British melodies. And not to worry – everyone will get in on the act, closing out the evening’s festivities with a sing-along rendition of The Land of Hope and Glory. It will be an unforgettable evening, so dust off your fascinator and join in the fun!

Over 600 prominent local leaders, celebrities, business owners and community members will attend the VocalEssence biennial gala supporting their education programs that give the gift of music to more than 7,000 students each year. Proceeds benefit the VocalEssence Community Engagement Programs—WITNESS teaching artists and ¡CantarĂ©! composers make 200 classroom visits each school year, benefiting over 7,000 students throughout the metropolitan area.

  • WITNESS is one of the nation’s premier initiatives celebrating the contributions of African Americans to our shared American heritage through concerts, recordings and comprehensive educational programs.
