Cuba Debate: Leo Brouwer Dedicates Chamber Music Festival 9/30-10/7 to Chucho Valdés on 70th Birthday

The Afro-Cuban composer, guitarist and conductor Leo Brouwer (b. 1939) is featured at AfriClassical.com. His String Quartet CD, recorded by the Havana String Quartet, won a Latin Grammy Award. This will be the third Chamber Music Festival in his series:

Cuban maestro Leo Brouwer announced that the Chamber Music Festival scheduled for September 30th through October 7th will be dedicated to Chucho Valdés on his 70th birthday.

“'Chucho is simply great as a pianist, composer and person, he deserves this homage and much more,' said Brouwer in Havana, adding that he has admired and worked with the great Cuban jazz musician for 50 years.'
