Michelle Riley Jones brings this concert to our attention:

Mallory's experiences range from being on stage in concert with opera divas, Kathleen Battle, and MET Veridian soprano, Angela M. Brown, to duets with Wintley Phipps. Dr. Lloyd Mallory, Jr. has assembled gifted singers to form the Lloyd Mallory Singers, and will release his newest CD, 'With My Whole Heart,' in concert on Saturday, July 23rd, at 7:00pm, at the Sligo Church, 7000 Flower Avenue, Takoma Park, MD. The concert will render sacred music - classical, hymn arrangements, spirituals, gospel - by noted composers and arrangers including Evelyn Simpson Currenton, Mervyn Warren, Cedric Dent, Adrian Westney, and John Stoddart. He is known for bringing together the young and the old, the contemporary and the traditional, the electrifying and the reverent. The concert is free to the community. The Lloyd Mallory Singers project is produced by the Breath of Life Records of Los Angeles, CA.

Dr. Lloyd Mallory, a native of Washington, D.C., earned his doctorate of musical arts degree at UCLA under Dr. Donald Neuen. Dr. Neuen, a protégé of the late Robert Shaw, inspired Mallory to be passionate about music and to never settle for anything less than lyrical, beautiful singing. Mentored by the late Dr. Nathan Carter, renowned choral director and chair of the Morgan State University Fine Arts Department, changed the course of Mallory’s music experience. As a result of Dr. Carter’s influence and teaching, Mallory learned to cross the genres in an authentic way with vocal integrity. He continues to study voice with Jean Carter, (widow of Dr. Carter). Dr. Mallory also earned two Master’s degrees in Choral Conducting and Voice, from Morgan State; with his undergraduate degree from Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama.”
