George Walker has been commissioned by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra to write a new concert opener. The much-anticipated NJSO Premiere is scheduled for 2012 will be the latest by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer following the debut of his acclaimed Concerto for Violin and Orchestra with the Philadelphia Orchestra during the 2009-10 season. Dr. Walker has received over 30 works commissions in his career from esteemed institutions including the Eastman School and the Koussevitsky Foundation.
