Saturday, 26 February, Noon - 4 pm National Writers Union (I am the Chicago Chapter Chair) presents African American Read In, Woodson Library, 9525 South Halsted. We need volunteers to read excerpts from books by Black writers, or to tell stories; and we need audience members ages 2-92. Please email or call me to participate.
Saturday, 16 April, Noon - 1:30 pm Haiku Festival Judges read original poems in celebration of National Poetry Month. Poets include Marilyn Allen, Katriel, Renee Moore, Valerie Wallace, Wayne Jones, Michael Watson and yours truly @ Woodson Library, 95th & Halsted.
Saturday, 30 April, 10:00 am 7th Annual Haiku Awards Program, Harold Washington Library Auditorium, 400 South State Street. Special Guests: poets ages 8 -14 who submit one original poem for cash et al awards and poet. John S. O'Connor, author of Room full of chairs (200) and Thing being what they are (2011). Deadline to send poems: Saturday, 19 March 2011.
