Mariam Adam, Clarinet & Evelyn Ulex, Piano at NYPL Performing Arts Library Oct. 23, 2:30 PM

Yesterday AfriClassical posted: “Imani Winds: 14th Season & 5th CD on Entertainment One Music, 'Terra Incognita.'” The clarinetist of the wind quintet is Mariam Adam, who is from Monterey, California. We noticed that she was scheduled to perform in New York later this month as a founding member of a prominent trio, TransAtlantic Ensemble. The performers play clarinet, violin and piano. Mariam Adam has confirmed to AfriClassical that a performance of two members of the group will take place on October 23:

“Recently back from giving concerts in Costa Rica, TransAtlantic Ensemble returns to the NYPL Library series with new works written for them by New York composers with origins from Queens to Palestine. Featuring Mariam Adam from Grammy-nominated crossover wind quintet, Imani Winds, Evelyn Ulex International Concert pianist, the ensemble regularly performs throughout Germany and the States bridging the genres of Latin, Blues, Romantic and Classical. Works by Paquito D'Rivera, Mohammed Fairouz, Jeff Scott, Richard Padron, Villa Lobos & more.”

“As a founding member of the internationally acclaimed, TransAtlantic Ensemble (Clarinet, Violin, Piano) she has performed in Europe and the U.S., performing a wide range of music including that of Imani Winds' Jeff Scott and Valerie Coleman. As a soloist she has been invited to give recitals in Spain, Switzerland, and London, and she continues to collaborate with several international pianists celebrating music from different regions of the world.
