[Julius Penson Williams]

On June 1, 2010 AfriClassical posted: “Julius P. Williams & 'Moscow Conservatory Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra' in Verdi's 'La forza del destino' on Facebook Video.” As noted on his page at AfriClassical.com, Julius Penson Williams (b.1954) is an African American composer, conductor, educator, recording artist, author and artistic director. His career is also detailed at his personal website, http://www.juliuspwilliams.com

Today we link to a YouTube Video (6:45). Maestro Julius P. Williams conducts the Moscow Conservatory Symphony Orchestra in a May 17, 2010 performance of Dennis Leclaire's 4 Haiku, Movements 1 and 2. The proportions of the venue are monumental, yet the camera work gives the viewer close-up views of the conductor and the performers. Maestro Williams steps up to the podium energetically and immediately begins conducting the orchestra in its rendition of Dennis Leclaire's lively composition, 4 Haiku, Movements 1 and 2.
