“Pianist performing at Parkside Wednesday

SOMERS - Sodi Braide, an internationally recognized pianist and recent performer on Ravinia's 'Rising Star' series, will perform at noon Wednesday at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Student Center Ballroom, 900 Wood Road. There is no admission fee.

“A cosmopolitan artist influenced by numerous cultures, Braide likes to explore a large re pertoire of different styles and periods. Currently living in Paris, he performs recitals and chamber concerts in France. He has also performed in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Spain, Luxemburg, Romania and the United States.

"Braide was invited to perform in South Africa in 1994, thus becoming one of the first black African pianists to perform there after the end of apartheid. Born of Nigerian parents in Newcastle (United Kingdom), Braide started playing the piano at the age of 3 in Dublin, Ireland. He has won numerous prizes and awards."
