“Ravinia Festival Announces 2009-2010 Rising Stars Concerts
Rising Stars to participate in Ravinia’s education and community partnerships programs
Special ticket/dining packages available for seven concerts
Ravinia’s 19th annual Rising Stars series features 13 classical recitals from Oct. 2, 2009, through May 7, 2010.” “Back by popular demand, Ravinia will offer seven concert/dining packages at a special price of $45 on Oct. 2, Oct. 30, Nov. 6, March 5, March 26, April 9 and May 7.”“The festival is dedicated to developing the full potential of emerging artists, beginning with their performances on the Rising Stars series and, ultimately, their Chicago Symphony Orchestra debut on the pavilion stage during the festival’s summer season.” “In addition to their Rising Stars performances, each artist will also perform in free concerts for students through Ravinia’s Education and Community Partnerships Programs throughout Chicagoland.”

The Fall Season includes “...pianist Sodi Braide, described as 'prodigiously gifted' by Arte.tv, on Oct. 30.” The Nigerian pianist has been followed for some time by AfriClassical, which offers a link to an excerpt of his César Franck CD on the blog's home page.

  2. Sodi was exceptional during his Impulse Artist Series concert here in Houston. It was an honor to present him, Chicago is lucky to get to hear him 2 times this year alone!
