Conductor Suggests Comparison of Adulterated Melodies & Original Melodies in Spirituals

[Dr. Fred Onovwerosuoke, the composer and musicologist who founded the St. Louis African Chorus.]

Yesterday AfriClassical posted Dr. Fred Onovwerosuoke Discusses Source of Spiritual 'Go Down Moses'. We are pleased that an appreciative comment on the post has been made by John McLaughlin Williams, the African American conductor who has a long list of recordings to his credit, notably on the Naxos label. He writes: “It would be great if the professor could post musical examples that show the differences in melodic contour between the received (adulterated) melodies and the original, microtonal ones. We all would find it highly informative.”
