Sergio A. Mims - Deutsche Grammophon to Record the Florence Price Symphonies with the Philadelphia Orchestra

Florence B. Price (1887-1953)

Yannick Nezet-Seguin

Sergio A. Mims writes:

Last week the Philadelphia Orchestra announced in their announcement of concerts for their new 2020-21 season that the orchestra will record all of Florence Price's symphonies with music director Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducting for the famed classical music label Deutsche Grammophon.

The recordings will include the first recording ever of Price's Symphony No. 3 though the work has been performed live in concert.  However, since the PR announcement from the orchestra stated that the recording will include all of Price's symphonies,  the question remains if it will also include the presumed long lost Symphony No. 2 though Price experts believe that the score remains among the yet to be recovered collection of music scores that were water damaged in her vacation home.
