Bill Doggett: Triumph Over Adversity Black Composers Concerts hosted by The Philharmonic Society of Orange County CA, curated by Anthony & Demarre McGill

Bill Doggett writes:

I wanted to share with you a wonderful Black Composers Roundtable from Sunday part of the Thursday-Saturday "Triumph Over Adversity" Concerts
hosted by The Philharmonic Society of Orange County{California} and curated by Anthony Mc Gill and Demarre McGill.

Moderated by Terrance McKnight of WQXR-FM New York, it was historic on many levels.

I was glad to close out the discussion connecting the dots of a call for the importance of greater visibility for Black Composers back to Langston Hughes  "I Too Sing America".

The concerts are still viewable through the week.   Great Chamber Music and String Orchestra content from William Grant Still and Adolphus Hailstork  to Valerie Coleman, Gabriela Lena Frank, James Lee III, Michael Abels and Jessie Montgomery.  https://philharmonicsociety.org/2021season/TOA/events/

Cordially,
Bill
