NAACP Invites Detroit and Surrounding Cities Residents to 110th National Convention Events

NAACP Experience Hall, Health Pavilion and Career Fair to headline free events at Convention.

BALTIMORE – Families, students, professionals and residents of Detroit, MI and surrounding areas are invited to attend the NAACP Experience taking place Saturday, July 20 through Tuesday, July 23. Hosted at the COBO Center, hundreds of partners, companies, civic organizations, and vendors will display their products and services to the local community.

The 110th NAACP Annual Convention will officially commence on Sunday, July 21 with the Opening Public Mass Meeting where NAACP National Board of Directors Chairman, Leon W. Russell will deliver the keynote address. On Monday, July 22, NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson will take the stage and address attendees. Both keynotes are open and free to the public.

NAACP Experience Free and Open to the Public
Attendees can come to the Experience to enjoy the retail expo, where small business owners from all over the country will showcase and sell their products. Ranging from beauty, skincare, and fashion retailers to fine art and high-end jewelry shops, many of the businesses onsite will be local and black-owned.

The Authors’ Pavilion will take place alongside the retail expo at the exhibit hall. The pavilion will host multiple panels moderated by acclaimed writers and celebrities. Readers will have the chance to buy books and get them signed by the author.

Free Health Screenings and More
Experience-goers can take advantage of the free activities offered inside the Health Pavilion. Organizations will be onsite to provide HIV testing, blood pressure, and glucose screenings at no cost.

On Tuesday, July 23, a free Career Fair will be held from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Local professionals and students are encouraged to bring in their resumes and apply onsite to jobs in IT, Engineering, Science, Marketing, Sales, Law, Hospitality, Healthcare, Accounting, Finance, and more.
