Sunday, December 11, 2016 Holman United Methodist Church presented their annual MESSIAH concert featuring The Holman Choir & Chamber Orchestra. Holman is the centerpiece of classical music in the predominate but not exclusive African American church community. Conductor William Campbell has maintained/continued excellence despite an aging male and female choir. Holman choirs mirror a disturbing trend and departure from intellectual music by African American youth.

In these worse of times for intellectual music in African American communities, Holman collected a large audience and presented a first class program. See photos of four (4) distinguished soloists taken before start of program: soprano Yolanda M. West, alto Carol Wooten, tenor Haqumai W. Sharpe, and bass Kenneth L. Scott, Jr. Robert Johnson Jr was the organist and Joseph Taylor was concert master.

Save the date for Holman UMC 57th annual concert of Negro Spirituals, Sunday, February 26, 2017.
