Princess Cupcake Jones
Author Ylleya Fields was hunting for books to read to her eldest daughter and was struck by the small selection of titles featuring modern African American characters. Blending both of her daughters’ images and personalities, Fields decided to take matters into her own hands and created Princess Cupcake Jones.

The series, which is composed of Princess Cupcake Jones and the Missing Tutu, Princess Cupcake Jones Goes to Schooland Princess Cupcake Jones and the Queen’s Closet, not only teaches readers extremely valuable life lessons, but all three books also consist of subtle positive messages within each illustrated page. The word “LOVE” is hidden in every page to remind each child what really matters most, and to give them a fun and interactive experience while reading.

Princess Cupcake Jones is an extremely important series for all children, but it is a crucial series for all young African American girls and boys who find it difficult to find modern book characters to relate to.
