Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. presented their 31st commemorative concert in honor of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Trinity Baptist Church. The deeply spiritual musical program included performances by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Chorus & Delta Choraliers, The United Male Chorus of Los Los Angeles, and the Rev, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Choir 2016. Danellen Joseph was honored for 31 years of service as director of Delta Choraliers and a principal organizer of the celebration. Danellen is a musician, long time retired music educator, NANM-Georgia Lester Branch membership chairperson,  volunteer, and a personal shero.  Danellen gave a standing ovation to the new director Karen Kimble-Singleton. Danellen was a fellow student and middle school orchestra member (as a percussionist) with Maestro Henry Lewis (the greatest musician/conductor ever born in Los Angeles and the state of California).
The commemorative concert concluded with the premiere of “We Shall Not Be Moved” by Maestro Charles Dickerson commissioned by the two sponsoring Greek organization. See picture with Danellen Joseph.
