December 17, 2015 — Vivienne C. La Borde has been appointed Director of Government and Community Engagement for Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA), announced today by Lesley Rosenthal, Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary.

Ms. La Borde, who joined Lincoln Center as Interim Director at the end of March and later became Acting Director, manages relations between LCPA and the city, state and federal government, reinforcing Lincoln Center’s role as a civic institution as well as a performing arts center. She also represents LCPA with neighborhood groups including the Amsterdam Houses, Lincoln Square Neighborhood Center, Lincoln Square BID, and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA).

Noted Ms. Rosenthal, “Vivienne has become the public face of Lincoln Center for many. In a short time, she has forged warm relationships with leadership at the Amsterdam Houses, NYCHA, the Borough President’s Office, and many members of the City Council.  With her exceptional communications skills and deep love of arts, education and community, Vivienne is well-positioned to present Lincoln Center’s full range of public service, cultural and educational activities to our government and community partners.”

Ms. La Borde’s role is especially pertinent to some of Lincoln Center’s newest and most essential community outreach programs, which now span all five boroughs of New York City. Those include Boro-Linc (which sends teaching artists and resources from all 11 resident organizations into underserved communities, in partnership with local cultural, educational, and government organizations), Poet-Linc (a program that encourages student literacy through poetry readings and spoken-word performances, culminating in a live presentation in  Lincoln Center’s David Rubenstein Atrium), and Family-Linc (which brings families living at or below the poverty line to Lincoln Center to share artistic experiences).

Prior to coming to Lincoln Center, Ms. La Borde was an associate at one of the world’s preeminent law firms Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.

Ms. La Borde holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Emory University.  She is on the board of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.
