Claire Detels in 'Great Arkansas Composers: William Grant Still and Florence B. Price' Fayetteville Public Library 2 PM, May 29

The Fayetteville Public Library will host a piano concert celebrating great Arkansas composers on Sunday, May 29, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the library’s Walker Community Room. Claire Detels, University of Arkansas Professor Emerita, will present a piano concert 'Great Arkansas Composers: Florence Price and William Grant Still.'

“Both Price and Still achieved international acclaim as composers of original symphonic music, popular music and chamber music. Price’s arrangement, 'My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord,' was performed by Marian Anderson on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1939 – an event recognized as a key moment in civil rights history.
